Crushed concrete comes in a variation referred to as Type 1 or MOT which is a standards approved granular sub-base material. This is made by recycling old concrete and with a small percentage of hardcore which produces a higher dust count in the production process than is made with quarried MOT Type 1 limestone rock.
MOT Type 1 crushed concrete is crushed concrete which meets the Department of Transports Highways Works specifications, made from hard inert materials or rocks such as limestone or granite.
It is useful as a high quality fill or sub-base material, and especially useful for road construction, driveways and car parks. Old concrete waste product is used to create it and today it is recognised as a Type 1 product due to its consistency and content. It remains a great hardcore for many projects and enjoys a high popularity.
It is used as a replacement for limestone and granite owing to their limited availability and expensive costs. Crushed concrete does exactly the same thing but at costs which are much more reasonable. EDS can deliver crushed concrete and a range of hardcore aggregates to you.
Type 2 crushed concrete is a standard sub-base material and used for roads such as pot-hole filling-in but like Type 1 it can be used for other things like driveways, backfill material, patios, tracks and other paths.
It is crushed stone which is less than 40mm in size down to dust with no specified grading. It contains materials finer than those found in Type 1.
